Wealth management is a relationship business trapped inside an operations problem. Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs) and independent advisors oversee trillions in assets, yet most spend the majority of their week on meeting prep, note-taking, compliance documentation, and portfolio admin instead of clients.

§01

The Problem

The independent advisory model is growing fast, but the back office hasn't scaled with it:

  • Manual prep and follow-up. Advisors reconstruct client context before every meeting from CRMs, custodial statements, and email threads that don't talk to each other.
  • Compliance drag. Every recommendation, meeting, and communication must be documented and archived to satisfy regulators, work that is almost entirely manual.
  • Fragmented tooling. The average advisor runs a CRM, a portfolio management system, a planning tool, and a custodial portal, none of which share a record of the client.
  • Headcount-bound growth. Adding clients means adding operations staff, capping the economics of independent firms.
§02

Why Now

  • LLMs handle unstructured client context. Meeting transcripts, emails, and statements can now be synthesized into a live client picture and next-best actions.
  • Custodial and aggregation APIs are open. Portfolio data, held-away accounts, and transactions are accessible programmatically for the first time.
  • The great wealth transfer is here. Tens of trillions are moving to a generation that expects digital-first, responsive advice.
§03

What We're Funding

  • Advisor copilots. Systems that prep meetings, draft summaries and follow-ups, and surface planning opportunities automatically.
  • Compliance automation. Tools that capture, classify, and archive communications and generate audit-ready documentation without manual effort.
  • Agentic portfolio operations. Rebalancing, tax-loss harvesting, and account servicing executed by supervised agents.
  • Client engagement layers. Always-on, advisor-branded interfaces that answer client questions and escalate when human judgment is required.

gAI's Bet

We have built and invested in this thesis directly through FastTrackr AI, an AI stack for RIAs and advisors. We back founders building the systems that let a single advisor serve more households at a higher standard of care, turning the independent advisory channel into a software-defined business.
